When used, Kakashi creates a shadow-clone and connects two lightning cutters with a strong of lightning which is then used to electrocute the opponent. Although it's rank isn't known, it is a combination of two S-Ranked techniques, meaning it is quite powerful itself. Raikiri, nicknamed Lightning Cutter, is the signature technique of Kakashi Hatake and a better version of the Chidori. Like the Chidori, the Raikiri is a thrust-based technique that relies on speed and penetration power to end the enemy instantly.
However, unlike the Chidori, this Jutsu appears to be much more concentrated, making it hit all the harder and faster. Shiden, also known as Purple Electricity, is one of the strongest and newest techniques of Kakashi Hatake. Instead, he developed a stronger technique, known as Shiden, which he could use from a distance. Like Raikiri, this technique is extremely powerful and can tear through the limbs of someone as mighty as a Tailed Beast.
Kamui is the Mangekyo Sharingan ability of Obito Uchiha. Kakashi, having obtained one Sharingan eye from Obito, gained access to this ability during the Third Great Ninja War, however, he didn't learn how to use it until much later. He can immediately discern what type of technique he has encountered the nature behind it. While a student under Minato Namikaze, Kakashi among other things learned how to use the Rasengan. He also demonstrated noticeable skill since childhood in advanced techniques like the Shadow Clone Technique.
Kakashi is proficient in several nature transformations. It became so advanced that it is an attribute enemy ninja identify him by. His prowess with Water Release can match specialists like Zabuza Momochi and perform techniques without a nearby water source.
His Earth Release prowess is able to move fast and unnoticed underground or produce large and intricate earthen walls rather quickly.
In the anime, he has also shown considerable skill in Fire Release, able to produce a massive fireball able to cause much damage to the area. In addition, he is at least knowledgeable enough to train others in Wind Release.
When Kakashi learned to use the Rasengan, he attempted to infuse it with lightning-chakra as it was intended to be combined with element chakra, but ultimately failed. However, he used the same theoretical principle to create the Chidori, which he later refined into the far stronger Lightning Cutter. He can also create a lightning-infused clone, and hound via his manipulation of lightning chakra.
Kakashi is a highly-skilled user in a large variety of weapons such as bows and arrows, kusarigama, chains, wire strings and others. He also has considerable skill in shurikenjutsu able to pin down an opponent with a quick barrage of kunai.
Likewise at close-range, he could battle off skilled melee-fighters such as Zabuza and Hidan, armed with their respective unique weapons, with a single kunai.
Due to his Anbu background, Kakashi's sword skill was especially improved. He can also enhance his physical tools, channeling lightning-nature chakra through them, gaining enough power to pierce clean through large rocks. Kakashi is also able to summon a pack of ninja hounds of various breeds. Much like his combat skills, Kakashi's use of these summons is highly versatile, ranging from attacking and restraining his opponents. He can combine his Summoning Technique and his Earth Release skills to have his hounds burrow and erupt from the ground in order to help subdue his enemies.
Aside from offensive purposes, Kakashi's pack is also highly skilled in tracking down targets, and often used to deliver messages. Kakashi's most distinguishing ability was the Sharingan in his left eye-socket that was given to him by Obito Uchiha. This eye also gave Kakashi a heightened visual perception to his surroundings, enabling him to perfect his Chidori and its later version, the Lightning Cutter. While fighting Obito, a potent genjutsu user, Kakashi was able to go toe to toe with his enemy in an illusionary fight until he himself asked that genjutsu fighting be abandoned due to the constant stalemates of it.
When he first received the Sharingan it had only two tomoe. Some time after this, the traumatic loss of his dear friend Rin caused Kakashi's Sharingan to fully mature. Because of this, Kakashi only relied on it when he felt it was an absolute necessity. In Part I, he could only handle using it for a short while in battle before suffering somewhat crippling effects and severe fatigue.
In Part II, he was seen using it for seemingly a day while testing Naruto and Sakura without any adverse effects. In order to gain access to the other dimension, Madara stole Kakashi's Sharingan, thus stripping Kakashi of all of its powers.
Its design is three stretched triangles evenly spaced around the pupil that each curve at the top around the eye to form a circle, making it similar to a pinwheel. With it he can perform Kamui: a technique that creates a space-time barrier in the form of a swirling void that sucks any target he focuses his eye on to another dimension and also bring them back; even transporting them to a new location. Originally, Kakashi lacked proper control to accurately hit his target.
His skill and aim later improved greatly, able to successfully warp small, fast-moving, or multiple targets in rapid succession as seen against Pain, and Sasuke respectively.
He used the technique during the Fourth Shinobi World War. Even Obito, who mastered his variation of Kamui, openly acknowledged Kakashi's great skill with the technique. While battling Obito, Kakashi attempted to use Kamui to behead the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path: an object of significant size and mass, failing only because of Obito's intervention. His finesse allows him to safely warp chakra-based techniques, like the Rasengan or shadow clones without disrupting them, at such speed that Obito himself was fooled into believing Kakashi dispelled the technique instead.
While originally demonstrating only long-range use, Kakashi is also able to use Kamui at a short-range. With this new proficiency, by targeting himself, Kakashi can teleport himself at will, able to precisely choose his destination for an attack. Kamui's chakra requirements are considerably high, such that initially he had to be hospitalized for a week after using it three times in one day. By his battle against Obito, his mastery of this technique improved further, able to use it at least five times, three of which in quick succession along with multiple other chakra-taxing techniques and still had enough strength left to act.
Afterwards, though tired, he remarked that he retained enough chakra to use the technique a few more times, and only after the fourth use did he start experiencing the immediate side effects, which he soon recovered somewhat from.
At the same time, repeated use of Kamui strains Kakashi's Sharingan, ultimately causing it to bleed and temporarily blur his sight, requiring him to get closer for better aim. Through notes in the printed volumes of the Naruto manga and the Art Collection , it was revealed that creator Masashi Kishimoto initially planned on debuting Kakashi even earlier. After discussing the character with his editor, however, Kishimoto decided to delay introducing the character to have a better understanding of what he wanted to do with Kakashi.
When Kakashi tested his new students, he used a pair of bells to do it. He tested Boruto and his classmates the same way in the newer series. What fans do know is that shinobi have used the test for years. Before Kakashi used the test on his students, Minato Uzumaki used it on his. Prior to Minato using it, Hiruzen Sarutobi used it on his. Though Kakashi became a chunin at just six years old, it was another six years before he was promoted to jonin.
The promotion, however, came as the Third Shinobi World War loomed. Kakashi was placed in charge of his team for a mission, and pretty much everything went wrong that could possibly go wrong. His teammate Rin was kidnapped and his teammate Obito wanted to save her. Click here to see him in The Last. In the ninja world, those who break the rules are scum, that's true, but those who abandon their comrades are worse than scum.
This grants Kakashi the use of Obito's Intangible Man powers, Perfect Susanoo, and the ability to imbue all of his attacks with Kamui so they can Portal Cut if they connect. And because Obito was also host to the Ten-Tails, he gets Rikudo's power as part of the deal so his attacks aren't instantly absorbed. He loses this power when Obito finally passes on due to no longer channeling Obito's spirit, as he had already lost his Sharingan to Madara before.
The Ace : He is very likely the most talented shinobi ever produced by the Leaf without any special Bloodline Limit, moving through the ninja ranks even more quickly than prodigies like Itachi. Achilles' Heel : Kakashi, while he has an all around awesome skill-set, has massive stamina issues. This is exacerbated by his Sharingan, which expends even more of his chakra when used.
While his stamina does improve over the years, this is partially offset by him learning jutsu that require even more chakra, namely Kamui. Several of his major battles in the series result in him getting bed-ridden for over-expending his energy. Afterlife Antechamber : Ended up in one when he used up the last of his chakra to save Choji from Pain.
He got revived but before this happened he had enough time to meet with his long dead father Sakumo, whose regrets had kept him in the same chamber ever since his suicide, and make peace with him. This allowed his father's spirit to finally move on to the afterlife and reunite with his long dead wife. Always Save the Girl : That first flashback of him killing Rin turned out to be very misleading.
She actually wanted him to do it, but he point-blank refused despite the Mist's plans for her. She took matters into her own hands and jumped in front of his attack. Always Someone Better : He was it for Obito in their childhood He also was this for Guy that in turn caused their Friendly Rivalry. And I Must Scream : He was the first in-series victim of the Mangekyo Sharingan's Tsukuyomi seen, in which Itachi crucified him and stabbed him repeatedly without letting him die.
For what felt like three days. Without stopping Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy : As a kid, he was obsessed with following the rules and living like an obedient toy soldier. Anyone who didn't train themselves to be an ideal ninja was out of step with the rest and a disgrace. It was brought on by a fear that deviating from the shinobi code would lead to ostracism, since his father Sakumo chose to put his comrade's lives above a mission. The Leaf ninja felt betrayed, because it is their master goal to ensure a success of a mission at all costs.
Sakumo was chided viciously by his peers, even those he had saved, and Driven to Suicide. Kakashi feared the same might happen to him. After Obito brought him to his senses and warned him it would pretty much strip him of his humanity to live like this, he broke out of it. That doesn't discredit its effectiveness. Aura Vision : One of the most standard abilities of the Sharingan is to see Chakra.
Awesomeness by Analysis : Pretty good at figuring out the skills of dangerous opponents such as Zabuza , Kakuzu , Pain and Tobi. Considered to be the best at it by Guy and Naruto. Back from the Dead : Gets killed and later revived by Pain.
Back-to-Back Badasses : With Guy. They trust each other implicitly and are familiar with each other's fighting styles, making them a very dangerous combination on the battlefield. Badass Baritone : With the voice of Kazuhiko Inoue , this is part and parcel. Inverted with his actual choice of literature — Jiraiya's erotic novels. Badass Teacher : His students certainly think so. Badass Transplant : His Sharingan s. Battle Aura : Gains one when Naruto gives him the refined, combined chakra that he and Kurama made, resulting in a Version 1 cloak.
He commented that it's even stronger than the dose that Kurama had given him originally, which increased his power threefold. Beauty Mark : Reveals to have one, when we see his face for the first time. It's under his mouth on the left-hand side of his face. He also hates Kabuto, in no small part due to his insistence on using it. It seems to come from a disdain of grave-robbing of his friends in general.
He got set off when he realized that Tobi had to be using Obito's eye. His rage stopped cold when it was finally revealed that Tobi IS Obito. He also values his comrades, and dislikes people betraying their own. Notably, back during Land of Waves mission in Part I, Zabuza's repeatedly kicking Naruto who is also Minato's son, mind and belittling his students pushed him into quite the Tranquil Fury — once he was freed from Zabuza's Water Prison, the Death Glare he gave the Missing-Nin was quite impressive.
Then, he handed Zabuza his rear end on a platter. Another one, but anime only. Don't bring up Rin's death unless you're Obito.
If you do, then he will have no qualms doing exactly the same thing he did to Rin on you. Big Damn Heroes : He has a habit of joining fights by showing up out of nowhere to save his comrades. Even Sakura, who was still in her Sasuke-obsessed phase at the time, called him handsome of course, she didn't know it was him.
His face is the one Pakkun had suggested in the "Kakashi's Real Face is Finally Unveiled" manga omake, except without the Guy-like sparkling toothy grin. That's probably what made the ninken think "That wasn't it at all. The eye's usage also places a great strain on Kakashi, wearing him down and causing deterioration of his eye's vision until eventually his eye went blind during the Fourth Shinobi World War.
Boring Yet Practical : His fighting style tends to be this, which is part of why he's overshadowed so much. His summons are a perfect example. Most ninja call up a giant animal to fight for them; Kakashi has a pack of hunting hounds.
Break the Haughty : Happens in Kakashi Gaiden , when he gets the worst dose of cold reality you could believe.
